What the company is

Hostwinds sells shared and business web hosting, reseller and white label reseller hosting, managed and unmanaged VPS, hourly cloud servers, dedicated servers and colocation. Its terms of service name the contracting party as Hostwinds a HostPapa Inc Company, apply US law to all clients and are governed by the law of the State of Washington. The home page says the company controls all of its infrastructure outright and builds its locations to 2N redundancy from the routers to the fiber paths. For an adult site operator it is a general host with a published adult content policy and a deep product ladder: shared hosting for a first site, VPS, cloud and dedicated servers for a growing one, and colocation for an operator with its own hardware.

What it sells an operator

Shared hosting is the entry plan. In October 2026 the shared page lists 3 plans, from Basic upward, starting at $6.99 a month, each with unlimited bandwidth and disk space and a domain allowance rising from 1 to unlimited. Every shared plan lists solid state drives, its own cPanel account, a free dedicated IP, free SSL certificates, the Softaculous installer and the Weebly site builder, with management by the company's administrators at no extra cost. Business hosting puts fewer sites on each server, runs LiteSpeed and offers Cloudflare's CDN through a partnership; the business page, read the same month, starts it at $11.99 a month.

Reseller hosting sells shared hosting under the reseller's brand, with no reference to Hostwinds, and the page lists volume discounts from 6 reseller accounts upward. The white label reseller program, listed from $10.00 a month in October 2026, lets a reseller sell every Hostwinds product under its own brand, takes payments straight to the reseller's site and comes with WHMCS and the Hostwinds reseller module installed by the company; the ordinary reseller plan does not include WHMCS.

VPS plans come managed or unmanaged, on Linux or Windows. As of October 2026 the unmanaged Linux page runs from $4.99 a month for 1 CPU, 1 GB of RAM, 30 GB of storage and 1 TB of bandwidth to a 16 CPU plan with 96 GB of RAM, 750 GB and 9 TB, and every VPS plan lists 1 Gbps ports, SSD storage, snapshots, custom ISOs, an external firewall and a 99.9999% uptime claim. Cloud servers use the same tiers billed by the hour, from $0.006931 an hour for the smallest in October 2026, with Debian, Fedora, CentOS, Ubuntu or Windows and a library of preset applications. The cloud portal handles snapshots, firewalls, volumes, load balancers, object storage and DNS.

Dedicated servers are sold fully managed and built to order: the customer picks CPU, RAM, disk count and size and any RAID level from 0 to 60, with full use of the 1 Gbps network link and, on nearly all servers, IPMI access with KVM controls, power controls and ISO mounting. Colocation is available in Buffalo, Dallas, Atlanta, Chicago, Seattle, San Jose, Los Angeles, New York City, Dublin and Toronto. In October 2026 a single server starts at $59 a month for 1U, with half cabinets, full 42U cabinets and cage space above it, a 100% network uptime SLA, 24/7 remote hands and quotes for high-density builds.

The adult content policy

Hostwinds publishes a dedicated Adult Content Policy in its product documentation. It says Hostwinds does permit the hosting of adult-oriented content, provided strict guidelines are followed: the customer must be over 18, and any material that is illegal in the United States is not allowed on its platforms, with a link to chapter 71 of title 18 of the US Code for those guidelines. Within that line, the policy says, adult-oriented content has a right to be hosted, and the company will act at once to stop illegal use. The terms repeat the age rule for every client.

The terms add rules that matter for adult video work on shared accounts. Shared, business and reseller servers may not run image hosting scripts, file dump or mirror scripts, proxy scripts or anonymizers, warez or sites linking to pirated content. Shared hosting may not be used for mass file storage, including media files, or for download mirrors, and a site built around users downloading files must move to a VPS. Unlimited disk and bandwidth apply only to files relevant to the hosted site, and a customer whose site keeps disrupting a server is asked to upgrade, with suspension in extreme cases.

Copyright, abuse and the terms that decide the choice

Copyright and trademark complaints go to the abuse desk by email. The terms say infringing material is removed or disabled expeditiously, that repeat infringers are suspended or terminated, and that the company abides by US copyright law including the DMCA, with notices sent to its designated DMCA agent. Selling counterfeit goods ends an account at once, and the company may disclose subscriber information to law enforcement on lawful request.

Payment is taken automatically from the card, PayPal or Alipay account on file; non-hourly services are paid in advance and hourly services on the first of the month for the month before. A non-hourly invoice unpaid for 14 days can end the service, and an hourly service unpaid for 10 days is terminated. The company charges no late fees and gives at least 30 days notice before billing at a new price. Under the terms read in October 2026, a chargeback places the whole account on hold until the customer proves ownership of the payment method, repays the disputed amount and pays a $250 penalty for each disputed transaction. Cloud and dedicated servers that exceed their bandwidth pay $0.01 per Gb of overage and are rate-limited to 3 Mbps until upgraded.

Refunds are prorated and narrow: the service must first be canceled in the client portal, and the request must follow within 72 hours of the payment. Software licenses, domains, SSL certificates, IP addresses, hourly services, services terminated for violations and anything paid in cryptocurrency are never refunded. Cancellation takes effect immediately and deletes the content on the service. The terms say the company takes no backups of customer data, even though nightly backup services are offered on the plan pages, and that the customer keeps responsibility for checking them. Liability is capped at the fees paid in the 3 months before a claim, and disputes go to individual arbitration with the American Arbitration Association in Washington.

Getting started and support

Shared and business plans set up instantly, cloud servers and VPS in minutes. The shared, business and reseller pages offer free website migration by the support team, with a preview step before it is finalized, and the cloud page offers migration on any new service through a ticket; the terms call transfers a courtesy service with no guarantee of time or completeness. Support runs 24/7/365 through live chat and tickets, and the VPS, cloud and dedicated pages describe monitoring that opens a support ticket automatically when a server has a problem.

Company and track record

The terms identify Hostwinds as a HostPapa Inc company. The home page says it owns all of its equipment, that its services are operated entirely by itself rather than a third party, and that it uses several T1 carriers across different paths; it refers to numerous awards and award-winning support without naming them. The colocation list is the clearest statement of where its facilities are, across North America and Europe.

Who it suits

Hostwinds fits an adult operator who wants a mainstream host with a written adult policy: a small adult site on shared or business hosting, or a larger tube or video site on a VPS, cloud server or managed dedicated server, where downloads and media storage are allowed. Resellers and agencies who build adult sites for clients can use the white label program with WHMCS.

Video-heavy sites have to stay off shared plans, and the chargeback penalty and the 72 hour refund window are strict terms to weigh before ordering. The strength of the offer is the range under one account with a plain adult policy in writing, from a shared plan to colocation in North America and Europe.
