What the vendor is

Thexyz is an independent, employee-owned Canadian company that registers domains, hosts DNS and sells web hosting alongside its main business, private email. Its about page says it has run ad-free email from Toronto for over 19 years, and that it was founded there in October 2007; the copyright line names Thexyz, Inc. For an adult site operator the relevant products are its domain registrations, which include a .adult extension aimed at the adult trade, its usage-based cPanel hosting, its VPS plans and its dedicated servers. The .adult page names ICM Registry as the registry for that extension.

What it sells an operator

The .adult page describes the extension as a namespace for age-restricted entertainment, mature content, adult industry brands and related services, intended for adult entertainment businesses, mature content platforms, age-restricted communities, service providers and brands protecting names in the adult space. In October 2026 the page lists one price of $149.95 for registration, renewal and transfer alike. The page states that .adult domains have no restrictions on registrations and can be registered for 1 to 10 years. The extension was introduced in 2015, and the domain information block lists WHOIS privacy protection, IDN and DNSSEC support, 1 to 12 name servers, names of 1 to 63 characters and authorization codes of 8 to 32 characters.

Several services come free with every registration, according to the same page. Domain theft protection is enabled by default, with locks that can be set or removed as needed. A SiteLock trust seal adds daily blacklist monitoring and daily malware scanning for up to 5 pages. DNS hosting runs on 4 name servers across 16 IPs with full DNS control, and a Site Builder lets a site be built for free and paid for when it is published. The home page also lists a Domains API.

The renewal grace period is 40 days, and the page says a domain stops resolving on the day it expires. A 30 day redemption period follows. In October 2026 the FAQ on the same page puts the renewal fee within that redemption period at $300 USD.

Usage-based cPanel hosting is billed by use. In October 2026 the usage page lists a $2.95 monthly license for the control panel, with disk space billed per gigabyte on a graduated scale from $1.00 at 1 GB down to $0.50 above 100 GB, and bandwidth on its own, lower graduated scale. Add-ons such as addon domains, subdomains, extra MySQL databases, shell access and a dedicated IP are charged only while they are in use. The control panel includes IP management, bandwidth graphing and remote reboots, and the page says growth above 100 GB carries no charges beyond the per-gigabyte rate.

The VPS range runs on OpenVZ with SSD storage, full root access, guaranteed CPU shares and Debian, CentOS or Ubuntu, in self-managed and managed versions; the managed package adds monitoring and reboots, weekly backups and installation and troubleshooting help. The VPS FAQ lists data centers in Chicago, Coventry in the UK, Finland, Bulgaria and Sydney. There is no setup fee, no trial and no 30-day money-back guarantee on VPS plans, and more than 3 dedicated IPs need a signed IP justification form.

Dedicated servers are sold from a table of plans. In October 2026 the entry plan, an Intel Atom with 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 480 GB SSD, is listed at $44.95 a month with 10 TB of bandwidth. The table runs up to an AMD Epyc configuration with 64 cores, and several rows are marked Out of Stock. Every dedicated plan is placed at Colohouse, Chicago. The plans list a free dedicated IP, unlimited hosted domains, full root access, a choice of AlmaLinux, CentOS, Debian or Ubuntu and 1-hour account activation. The page states a 99.9% uptime guarantee and claims 1000+ servers across 5+ countries, which are the company's own statements.

The terms that decide the choice

The .adult page lists uses including compliant adult entertainment sites, content platforms, communities, product stores and brand protection registrations, and says that because the extension is explicit it is important to use age-gating, content policies, legal compliance and responsible marketing wherever the domain is deployed. The hosting terms say that anything not legal in Canada is not permitted to reside on the company's servers, and that storing or transmitting material that breaks any applicable law is prohibited. Neither the terms nor the hosting pages mention adult content. The terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada.

The terms say accounts are set up on a prepaid basis, renew automatically at the contract length chosen at setup, and that renewal notices are emailed 14 days before the renewal date. In October 2026 the same terms set a late payment fee of 10% when payment is not received by the due date. Accounts are suspended 5 days after the renewal due date if payment has not arrived, services can be recovered within 15 to 30 days of suspension, and a reinstatement fee applies. Prices are shown in US dollars, and a customer can pay in Canadian dollars at checkout at the exchange rate.

Cancellation has to be made from inside the client account; requests sent by phone, email or social messaging are not accepted. A yearly account carries no fee for cancellation, while a monthly account that is canceled is not refunded for payments made before. Immediate termination gives no refund for the time left on a service, and early termination without refund or notice follows a breach of the terms or the Acceptable Usage Policy. The terms also reserve Thexyz's right to cancel a service at any time and keep fees paid in advance. The support page says many services fall under a 30 day money back guarantee.

On spam, the terms take a zero-tolerance line against spam sent from its servers or spam advertising domains hosted on its network, and say an account may be deleted. The company may suspend services without notice where it reasonably believes they breach the Acceptable Usage Policy, where a customer does not cooperate with an investigation, to protect its network, or on request from a law enforcement or regulatory agency. It says it will cooperate with legal authorities and injured third parties in investigating suspected crime or civil wrongdoing. The site publishes no DMCA notice procedure and no abuse contact address.

Getting started and support

An order starts from the domain search or the hosting pages, and the terms say completing the order form counts as signing the Terms of Service and the Acceptable Use Policy. The dedicated and VPS pages list 1-hour account activation, and the VPS page adds an application installer for software such as WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, Magento and PrestaShop. The partner page describes a Developer Program with a complete API, a Reseller Program with discounts for a prepaid deposit, and an affiliate program for referrers.

Support tickets and live chat are open 24/7, and phone support runs Monday to Friday from 9AM to 5PM EST. The about page says the people answering support tickets are the same people running the platform. Beyond standard support, the company sells per-minute billed projects, DNS management help, troubleshooting by remote screen sharing, security hardening and an emergency response service for hacked sites.

Company and track record

Thexyz says it was founded in Toronto in October 2007, when it began as a domain registration for thexyz.org, and that it grew into an email provider that stays independent of venture capital and advertisers. Its timeline records a move of its main US servers to Steadfast in Chicago in 2011 and a Finnish data center option in 2014, and it runs a group of brands that includes YMOZ, XYZ AM and Sigly. Its pages say it honors GDPR and Canadian privacy law, and that its services run in data centers it describes as fully redundant.

Who it suits

Thexyz suits a site owner who wants a .adult name with no registration restriction, WHOIS privacy, domain locks and a single price for registration, renewal and transfer, all stated on one page. An operator who wants to pay for hosting by the gigabyte can use the usage-based cPanel plan, one who wants a VPS can place it in Chicago, Coventry, Finland, Bulgaria or Sydney, and one who needs a dedicated server in Chicago at a fixed monthly price has a listed range to compare.

It is a weaker fit for an operator who needs a written adult hosting policy or a published DMCA procedure before buying. A monthly account canceled mid-cycle gets no refund for earlier payments, a late payment carries a fee, and VPS plans fall outside the money-back guarantee, so the billing terms deserve close reading. The strongest point for a site operator is the plain statement of what the .adult extension allows, what it costs and what it does not restrict.
