What the vendor is

Go.cam is an age verification service run by GSI Développement SaS, which the site footer names and which the press page describes as a Marseille-based company. The pages present it as a gate that adult website operators place in front of restricted content. The adult content section says access can be restricted at entry or within protected areas, following the ARCOM guidelines in France and the KJM guidelines in Germany. The homepage also lists video games, streaming, gambling and regulated e-commerce as sectors it serves. Its software is open source under the GNU AGPL license and published on GitHub, where the FAQ says an operator can take it for self-hosting, and the vendor says hundreds of platforms have adopted it.

What it sells an operator

The product is a verification step that an operator adds to a site. The developer documentation describes a redirect flow and an iframe flow. In the redirect flow, the user goes to Go.cam, completes a check and returns to the partner site through a link-back URL. In the iframe flow, a frontend SDK opens an overlay on the partner page. The operator builds a verification URL with a cipher key and an HMAC key, passes user metadata such as a user ID, and receives the result at a callback URL. The homepage says the install takes a single line of code and does not touch the user database or identity management.

The default is a facial estimate with liveness-style checks. The homepage says a user estimated at 25 or older gets access at once, and a user who appears younger than 25 is offered document verification. The homepage gives a 95.47% accuracy figure for that threshold, which is the vendor's own number. Document checks cover identity cards, passports and driver's licenses, and the developer documentation says the supported regions are all European countries and the United States. The homepage also lists a document route covering more than 190 document types across 30 countries.

The homepage says verification finishes in under 15 seconds, while the FAQ says the process takes less than 30 seconds. Advanced liveness, which uses motion checks, is listed as a private beta. The terms also list an NFC route, which the homepage describes as new and which reads the chip in an electronic passport or identity card on the user's own device.

Once a user has verified, the status can be reused on participating sites. The FAQ says the status remains valid indefinitely, but if a partner stores the result only in the Go.cam cookie, that cookie lasts 30 days. A Go.cam passkey lets a user reach verified sites without a password, and the FAQ says it is not a login to the Go.cam account.

The terms that decide the choice

Adult sites are the first sector on the homepage, and the FAQ says the methods are certified as effective for age assurance on adult websites under the Challenge 25 approach. The terms set rules for how a business customer uses the service rather than for what its site shows: customers may not resell information provided by Go.cam or scrape content for another product, and Go.cam reserves the right to audit technical use, including the use of its API.

Money is the term to read closely. The homepage calls Go.cam completely free, with no setup fees and no monthly subscription charges for standard age estimation, and the FAQ says the service is free for end users. The FAQ's list of advantages also describes a pay-per-verification model, and Article 5 of the terms of service says the business customer pays Go.cam a fee for every age verification. The fee is displayed in the business customer account rather than on the public pages. Go.cam sends a monthly invoice or subscription by email, also shown in the account, and invoices are payable within 15 days. To open an account the business customer provides a company name, address, bank account, chamber of commerce number, domain names and billing information. As a checker rather than a biller, Go.cam holds no reserve and pays nothing out to sites.

The terms let Go.cam change the agreement by posting it on the website, with changes taking effect after 31 days. If a business customer cannot agree with a change, the agreement terminates. The business customer may end the agreement at any time, and Go.cam may suspend the service when it suspects fraud or non-compliance with the agreement. Accounts inactive for 3 years are a ground for termination, and Go.cam may end the agreement on 1 month's notice in other cases. The terms also allow Go.cam to report suspected fraud or money laundering to the authorities without telling the business customer.

On data, the terms make the business customer the controller and Go.cam the processor, under a data processing agreement linked from the footer. The terms say ID and selfie images are processed on the user's device and are neither transmitted to nor stored on Go.cam servers, and that Go.cam receives only the verification result, a session identifier and a timestamp. The FAQ says the site uses only essential session cookies and no tracking cookies. The terms state that the service is provided as is and as available, and that Go.cam does not guarantee accuracy. They also say that compliance with a business customer's own obligations stays with that customer.

Getting started and support

Setup begins with a business account, which the terms require before the service can be used. The developer documentation says account activation takes less than 24 hours, and the account gives access to the partner configuration. The documentation covers the standard implementation, the hosted implementation, a changelog and an overview of both integration flows.

Support is handled through a contact form that asks for a name, an email address and a message, described as the route for integration support, compliance guidance and technical questions, and the footer gives an email address for integration requests. The FAQ says integration can be done in minutes with a single line of code, either on a new page with a callback URL or as an overlay, and a live demo shows the flow before signup. The site is published in English, French, German, Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Company and track record

The company is GSI Développement SaS, which the terms place at 25 Rue Sainte in Marseille and the press page calls a Marseille-based company. The vendor says it holds certification from the KJM, Germany's authority for the protection of minors on the internet, and from the UK's Age Check Certification Scheme. The site also states Challenge 25 certification and recommendation by ASACP and by the hosting company MojoHost. It lists membership of the Free Speech Coalition.

The vendor's press page collects coverage dated from 2021 to 2025: items from October 2024 report the KJM and ACC certifications, a January 2024 XBIZ item covers Go.cam offering a DSA-ready check to adult platform operators, and a 2025 Politico article cites it in the UK online safety debate. A partner page lists sites that use Go.cam, among them a premium European live cam site, a US free cam platform, several tube sites, an adult chatroulette-style site, erotic communities and story platforms.

Who it suits

Go.cam sells age verification only. It suits an adult operator in Europe or the United States that wants an estimate-first gate with a document fallback, open-source software, a redirect or iframe integration, and a pass that lets verified users move between participating sites. Its privacy design is its strongest published point. The site says images are processed locally, the terms say only a result leaves the device, and the cookie use is limited to session needs.

It suits less well an operator whose audience lives outside Europe and the United States, the regions the developer documentation lists for document checks. The caveats are that the free claim on the homepage sits beside a per-verification fee in the terms that only the account shows, that advanced liveness is still a private beta, and that the homepage and FAQ give different speed figures. For a site with its own engineers, the open-source code is the distinctive asset: the check can be reviewed on GitHub or self-hosted.
